About Me

I have been a Spanish Educator for the past 21 years and this will be my 11th year at Marlborough School. I was gifted a sabbatical in 2016 and spent the year visiting classrooms throughout New England and traveled abroad and throughout the United States by bicycle and car. Last year, in 2017, I was gifted a Fulbright Scholarship to visit South America and created new curriculum for all grades in the Spanish classroom. I have been inspired by many creative people with new ideas to teach. I believe in bridging gaps between people through music, language, art, and culture and filling them with understanding and love. This year, I am hoping to inspire the Spanish students of Marlborough School to get involved with a Non-Profit organization called Fe Y Esperanza (Faith and Hope). I have been working with this organization for the last 8 years and plan on bringing it to life in our classroom. We work directly with abandoned children in Juarez, Mexico every year in June and give them the opportunity to have a roof over their heads, food, and an education through college to help them reach their dreams. This year our students will discover ways to create bonds with these children from Mexico as well as raise an awareness about poverty and how deeply it affects us all. Students are invited to work with me in Mexico at Centro Victoria when they reach 9th grade. Please look at the website to learn more: www.hopeinjuarez.org
